Selected Exerpts from Reviews:

"...The story is filled with believable scenarios and characters... a good choice for beginning chapter-book readers. Black-and-white spot art appears throughout."
School Library Journal, December 2009

"Vivid characters and challenging plots create thought-provoking moral ambiguity for Yee's readership... Yee's chapter format creates the feeling of a grownup book for newly independent readers, while younger children and their parents will appreciate Shu-Li and her friends as role models and will look forward to hearing more about them in this promising series.
Charlotte Richardson, August 2009

"...readers will enjoy this story and its not entirely predictable ending. This book would be a good addition to a school or public library's collection where it can contribute to the existing body of books that deal with cross-cultural friendships or relationship... Shu-Li and Diego would be more useful as a literary representation of positive multicultural relationships."
